Filipina-American, Mona Pasquil, will serve in an acting capacity as lieutenant governor of the State of California until the governor’s appointee is confirmed. The previous California Lt. Ellen Tauscher, who has been appointed to the State Department.
Mona Pasquil has served as one of 30 members of the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee and as senior staff for the Kerry Edwards presidential campaign as Deputy Political Director for Constituency Groups. A longtime leader in the Asian Pacific Islander American community, Mona previously served as political director for Governor Gray Davis, California political director for Gore/Lieberman 2000, deputy CEO for the 2000 Democratic National Convention, western political director in the Clinton White House, western political desk and director of Asian Pacific affairs at the DNC.
Ms. Pasquil will serve an administrative function, carrying out the lieutenant governor’s functions at the State Lands Commission and other panels.
