The Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) is comprised of Members of Congress of Asian and Pacific Islander descent and members who have a strong dedication to promoting the well-being of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. Since 1994, CAPAC has been addressing the needs of the AAPI community in all areas of American life.  Eliminating healthcare disparities for AAPI communities has long been a top priority for our caucus.  Learn more about CAPAC’s healthcare priorities here

For the past 16 years, CAPAC has been a leader in educating Members of Congress and the American people about the history, contributions, and concerns of AAPIs. CAPAC Members work with Democratic Leadership, leaders in the Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucuses, other caucuses, federal agencies, businesses, and community-based organizations to actively advance an agenda that reflects the needs of the AAPI community.

On this call, caucus staff will provide an overview of CAPAC, give available updates on healthcare reform legislation, discuss opportunity for public comment on the Office of Minority Health’s National Plan for Action to eliminate healthcare disparities, and also discuss CAPAC collaborations with community groups through the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans.

Staff on the call will include:

Gloria Chan, executive director of CAPAC

Bernardette Arellano, office of Rep. Mike Honda, chair of CAPAC

Paulo Pontemayor, office of Rep. Madeleine Z. Bordallo, chair of CAPAC’s Healthcare Taskforce

Kari Lacosta, office of Rep. Doris Matsui, Member of CAPAC’s Healthcare Taskforce
