Re-elect Hydra Mendoza for San Francisco School Board!

KAYA Endorses the Re-Election of Hydra Mendoza to San Francisco School Board

Hydra has a proven record in public service and KAYA recognizes her commitment to the Filipino American community. In 2006, she became the first Filipina American to be elected into office in San Francisco. She serves as the current vice president of board of education. In this position, she has improved public education for San Franciscans in several ways: stabilize funding, create opportunities for students, improve and expand child development programs, prepare kids for college and career, support students and their families and build partnerships for our schools.

We support Hydra Mendoza for San Francisco School Board because she:

  • Served as Mayor Gavin Newsom’s Education Advisor and Liaison to the School District to build strong partnerships between the School District and the City.
  • Understands the importance of education as a former pre-school teacher, a former Executive Director of Parents for Public Schools, and an active and proud parent of two children enrolled in San Francisco Public Schools.
  • Her work has earned her several honors: Parent of the Year from the California Association for Bilingual Education, 2008 Public Service Award by the Public Administration Graduate Program at San Francisco State University, and one of the 100 Most Influential  Filipina by Filipino Women’s Network.

Hydra understands the importance of our mission.

Volunteer your time for Hydra and help make an impact.
